Description

The module consists of approved courses taken as a full time student at a partner Engineering School in Europe. The courses are chosen to firstly, cover the core material of the third year and secondly, to prepare the student for study in the fourth year of the MEng Civil Engineering degree programme at the University of Sheffield. The arrangements and courses taken are subject to the approval of the Civil Engineering Study Abroad Tutor. The marks obtained in the courses taken at the partner institution will be converted to an equivalent Sheffield University grade, the conversion being approved at a Board of Examiners.During the year abroad, the students are required to submit 20 credits of work for assessment by the MLTC and grades for 45 ECTS from the host university. The best 30 ECTS grades are selected from the 45 ECTS submitted. The grades for the lowest 15 credits are discarded for calculation purposes. Each of the module grades are converted to a Sheffield grade and the overall weighted average grade is then awarded as the grade for CIV390 (100 credits).
